This morning while riding the subway, I was considering all the media and word-of-mouth hype given today to celebrities, films, tv, awards, books, restaurants, stores, designers etc.
I want your list of the top 5 or 10 things that are overhyped, talked about 'till folks are blue in the face, have backlash heaped upon them for being popular...but are still worth it.

i guess here are mine-
i agree w/ you about angelina jolie and the hurricane relief efforts and add:
the playoffs (even though i think the superbowl now sucks b/c i have no particular affection for either team that made it and they only got there b/c of some of the WORST reffing i've ever seen)
winter vacations - b/c they're always worth it
GREY'S ANATOMY - i freaking love this tv show
The OC - b/c it still has me sucked in weekly
Myspace - b/c i'm ridiculously obsessed w/ it and have found old friends to catch up w/ and chat w/ some new friends which is fun
Pink Is the New Blog and Beht's blog - b/c a day isn't complete w/out checking them
hmm - i guess that's all and some of them don't necessarily fit the "talked about to death category" but they work well enough for me.
