I try to approach all the people I meet with an open mind and am usually willing to lecture anyone around me that says something intollerant. This is why, after visiting France quite a few times in my life (including when my parents lived there for a short time) people seem surprised that I'm willing to make a blanket statement like "God, I hate the French."
Here's further evidence why I do. Would any other nation of people come up with something like this????
So, as everybody and my mailman can tell you, I've been having a not-so-great year. Not bad in comparision to many, obviously I'm very fortunate, but just...rough...what with losing the love of my life to Cancer and losing the job that was much more to me than just a job.
But I just found a little place where I can always feel a little pick-me-up, The Daily Puppy.

Okay, and this last one is really just my #1 reason for starting to feel better...my own 4 month pup, Savvy. She is intolerant of many things, most of all, brooding.
I finally found the group of girl (and a few gay boy) friends I've always wanted...clever, hilarious, smart, sharp, witty, kind. Unfortunately, I only know them through the online blog Jezebel. But I could use some good, catty girl talk, so I'm taking it where I can get it!
(Oh, and I chose to link to the above post because the fact that they singled out Michael Cera shows how simpatico we all are.)
Now if I could just find the courage to start posting comments. Most that do are so sharp-tongued that I feel like I'm watching a game of double-dutch and I'm wearing stilettos.
Aside from my aversion to letting other people touch my unmentionables, I've always thought it would be a big cost saver and well worth it to waste, on average, about 3 hours of my precious weekend time doing my own laundry. Usually, it costs about $13, depending on whether or not I do my husbands as well.
I finally caved this weekend and dropped my large bag of laundry off at our pretty new "Laundry City" up the block. The total cost for them to do my laundry...$17.36.
I do still have to hand wash my undies, though. Some bridges we're never meant to cross.
I'm always so very happy to find another amazing animal rights group, so imagine how thrilled I was to see the site for The Fund for Animals and their story on a rescued....Fisher baby! And my parents thought they had it hard when raising me...

Fishers are a member of the Mustelid family, which includes the mink and skunk. Often hunted for their fur, these small animals are found across the United States in wooded habitats. This baby was found in the middle of the road in Menton, Mass. She was orphaned, alone, and hungry. A good Samaritan brought the eight-week-old infant into the Cape Wildlife Center—she was the center's first admitted fisher patient! She was given an examination and treatment for parasites, bottle-fed, and provided with a play pen mimicking the outdoors. Our staff revel in her daily antics and are pleased with her development. She will be released along with a companion fisher, just recently admitted to the center, in the fall when they both have reached maturity. |
