Pictured: Savvy sitting on the sofa cushions, staring at me.
Can't you see the manic look in her eye? Thinking "Get up, do something, for God's sake!"
Notice TV on over her shoulder.
I just found this quote on a Yahoo group I belong to:
"If you're interested in matching your mind with the most intelligent kind of beast I have ever encountered, get yourself a Scotty dog. He'll get bored very fast, and it will require all of your personal power and intelligence to keep up with him. You might find a good friend." - By Dr. Frederick Lenz
I really appreciate that. Especially this week. Tom's on business in Minnesota until Friday, so I'm alone with Savvy. She seems to think that 30 minutes spent sitting on the sofa staring at the TV is a huge waste of time, never mind the three hours I usually like to spend a night. I'm trying to tire her out so I can watch "American Idol".
So we run outside in the 30 degree weather. We run at 6:30 am and then again when I get home at 5:45. She's out the door like a bullet, and when I don't open both the front door to the apartment and the main building fast enough, she leaps onto her hind legs and paws at it and beats her front legs in the air like a race horse.
It leads me to suppose....Maybe I wanted dogs in my life for more than the fact that I love them? Maybe somewhere deep down, buried under the lazy girl who loves big, dirty martinis and long hours of mindless television is a more ambitious, active person. The kind who wants to take long walks, maybe even hikes. The kind that bounces out of bed early in the morning to stretch, do some sit ups and eat a healthy, organic, locally grown breakfast. But I hate that kind of person so much I have to get the dog to bring it out of me.
That said, I'd give anything right now to sleep an extra 30 minutes a night.
That is a cute dog.
